Privacy policy

Last updated: 22 June 2026

Screwdriver Marketing (we, us, or our) respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and disclose personal information when you visit our website, contact us, or use our services.

We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). Where you buy services from us as a consumer, relevant parts of the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) may also apply. This page is general information only — not legal advice.

Who we are

Screwdriver Marketing provides websites, SEO, Google Business Profile support, lead tracking, and related digital marketing services for local service businesses in Adelaide and across Australia.

Privacy and data enquiries: hello@screwdrivermarketing.com.au

What personal information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Identity and contact details — name, business name, email, phone number, address or service area, and website URL.
  • Enquiry and project information — what you tell us about your business, goals, budget, or support needs.
  • Usage and technical data — pages viewed, links clicked, referrer, browser, device type, and approximate location derived from IP address.
  • Client and account information — if you engage us, information needed to deliver your project (content, logins you choose to share, billing details, and communications).
  • Records of communication — emails, messages, call notes, and support history.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive information (such as health information or government identifiers) through this marketing website. Please do not send sensitive information unless we have agreed it is required for a specific service and you consent.

How we collect personal information

  • Directly from you — contact forms, email, phone, video calls, or messages.
  • Automatically — cookies, pixels, scripts, server logs, and analytics or marketing tools on our site.
  • From third parties — referral partners, publicly available business listings, or tools you connect to your project, where relevant and lawful.

Why we use personal information

We use personal information to:

  • Respond to enquiries, audits, quotes, and strategy calls.
  • Provide, administer, and improve our services.
  • Understand website use and measure marketing performance.
  • Send service-related updates and, where permitted, marketing about our services.
  • Manage billing, contracts, and client accounts.
  • Meet legal, tax, and regulatory obligations.
  • Protect our rights, clients, and systems from fraud or misuse.

We only collect information that is reasonably necessary for these purposes (APP 3). If we need information for a new purpose, we will explain that purpose and, where required, obtain your consent.

Direct marketing

We may send marketing about our services where allowed under the APPs and the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). Marketing emails will identify Screwdriver Marketing and include a way to unsubscribe or opt out. You can also contact us at hello@screwdrivermarketing.com.au to stop marketing messages.

We do not sell your personal information.

Website audit form and email

Our audit request form prepares an email with the details you enter. Submitting the form opens your email app; we receive your information when you send that email. Only include information you are comfortable sharing.

Tracking, analytics, and third-party tools

We may use first-party and third-party tools to record interactions (for example, page views, button clicks, form submissions, and phone or email link taps). Some tools are operated by external providers and may collect information according to their own privacy policies.

Where we embed third-party scripts (such as analytics or CRM tracking), those providers may process technical data and usage information. We choose providers we believe are appropriate for our business, but we do not control their independent handling of data.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We may use essential cookies for site function and optional cookies for analytics, performance, or marketing measurement. You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect how some features work.

Who we disclose information to

We may disclose personal information to:

  • Service providers who help us operate — hosting, email, analytics, CRM, project management, and payment processors — only as needed for their function.
  • Professional advisers such as accountants or lawyers when required.
  • Regulators, courts, or law enforcement if required or authorised by law.
  • Another party with your consent, or where reasonably necessary to deliver a service you requested.

We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle information in a way that is consistent with the APPs where applicable (APP 8). Some providers may store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States or other countries where their servers are located.

How we protect personal information

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure (APP 11). These may include access controls, secure hosting, and limiting access to staff and contractors who need it for their work.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data breaches

If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm, we will respond in line with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under the Privacy Act — including assessing the breach, taking containment steps, and notifying affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) where required.

How long we keep information

We retain personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes above, including to respond to enquiries, deliver services, resolve disputes, and meet legal and accounting record-keeping requirements. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

Access, correction, and anonymity

Under the APPs, you may request access to personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant, or misleading (APPs 12 and 13).

Where lawful and practical, you may interact with us without identifying yourself or using a pseudonym (APP 2). For many services — such as quotes, contracts, or project delivery — we may need your identity to proceed.

To make a request, email hello@screwdrivermarketing.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable period, usually within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before providing access. In some cases we may lawfully refuse access — if so, we will explain why.

Privacy complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first at hello@screwdrivermarketing.com.au. We will acknowledge your complaint and work to resolve it promptly.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the OAIC at oaic.gov.au.

Australian Consumer Law

Our website and marketing are intended to be clear and accurate. Under the ACL, businesses must not engage in misleading or deceptive conduct, or make false or misleading representations about their services.

If you purchase services from us as a consumer (for personal, domestic, or household use), you may have rights under the ACL including consumer guarantees that services will be provided with due care and skill, be fit for purpose, and be delivered within a reasonable time when no time is set. Remedies depend on the circumstances and severity of any failure.

Most of our clients are businesses. If you acquire services for business purposes, some ACL protections may not apply in the same way, but general fair-trading laws may still apply to how we advertise and communicate.

Pricing and scope are confirmed in quotes or agreements before work begins. Website content is general information — outcomes depend on your market, offer, and execution.

Consumer-related concerns can be raised with us at hello@screwdrivermarketing.com.au. You may also contact the ACCC at accc.gov.au or Consumer and Business Services SA at cbs.sa.gov.au.

Links to other websites

Our site may link to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Review their policies before providing personal information.

Children

Our services are aimed at businesses. This site is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Material changes may also be noted on this page. Continued use of the site after changes are published means you accept the updated policy.
